Walgett Shire Council proudly serves a diverse and unique region in the heart of outback New South Wales. About you:

  • A genuine interest in library services and a commitment to developing your skills in this field.
  • Strong literacy skills and the ability to support library users of all ages.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to balance work responsibilities and study commitments effectively.
  • Good computer skills and a willingness to assist patrons with basic technology tasks, such as printing, internet use, and accessing digital resources.

  • A willingness to undertake formal study towards a Certificate IV in Library and Information Services, including the commitment to complete coursework and assessments.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and an eagerness to build your technical skills.
  • Eligibility to meet the entry requirements for the traineeship, such as completing the Higher School Certificate, a Record of School Achievement, work experience, or a qualification.

Walgett Shire is situated in the far north west of New South Wales. The Shire consists of several larger towns and villages and a large rural population. The Shire is on the productive soil plains of N.S.W and traditional rural pursuits have been farming and grazing.
