About the role:

Walgett Shire Council is seeking a dynamic and highly organised Senior Administration Officer – People, Place and Liveability (6-month fixed-term contract) to provide critical executive support to the Director and high-level administrative services across the Directorate.

This role is instrumental in managing the operations of a diverse portfolio, including customer service, community services, youth programs, economic development, tourism, parks and open spaces and community facilities. You will ensure the efficient delivery of administrative functions, maintain effective communication with stakeholders, and support the coordination of projects and initiatives that enhance the Council’s services and community outcomes.

With a focus on professionalism, accuracy, and innovation, this role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the organisation and the wider community.

About you:

  • Proven experience in providing high-level administrative support, ideally in a government or corporate setting.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with stakeholders and handle sensitive or confidential matters professionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and prepare high-quality correspondence, reports, and documentation.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional teams or projects, including managing schedules and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite and records management systems, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Certificate IV in Business Administration or equivalent experience, with knowledge of local government operations being highly desirable.
